UPDATE: Toyota India has launched the Urban Cruiser Taisor from Rs 7.74 lakh (ex-showroom).
Toyota has confirmed that its version of the Fronx based crossover will make its debut on April 3, 2024, marking its return to the sub-4 meter SUV market. Toyota may utilize the moniker "Urban Cruiser Taisor," which it had previously trademarked, for this vehicle. It will stay with the same features and engine choices. It will, nonetheless, have a different design from the Fronx. Let's examine what this future model will have in store for you ahead of its launch.
Even though the overall silhouette of the car will remain unchanged, Toyota will give the upcoming crossover its own styling elements to differentiate it from the Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
With a new grille with Toyota badging, redesigned bumpers, distinct headlight and DRLs, and tail lamp signatures, as well as differently styled alloy wheels, Toyota will undoubtedly update the vehicle's appearance to have its own appeal.
As per the teaser video shared by the brand, the upcoming crossover will have different looking DRLs, a restyled grille and even a new orange colour.

There's a chance the dash style and layout remain similar to the Fronx crossover, but Toyota may alter not just the insignia but also the colors used in the cabin to make it stand apart. In contrast to the Maruti model's black and burgundy interior, the Toyota version may feature a lighter interior by using a beige coloured theme.
All the features present on the Fronx's will also make its way on the Toyota Taisor. A 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless connection for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a heads-up display, automatic climate control, and cruise control are all expected to be available.
Up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program (ESP), hill hold assist, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and a 360-degree camera are among the safety features it will include.

Like other Maruti-Toyota shared cars, the Toyota crossover will share engines and gearboxes with the Fronx. It is anticipated to come with a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 90 PS mated to a 5-speed AMT or 5-speed manual.
Additionally we can also expect a 1-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 100 PS and 148 Nm, mated to a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. A CNG version could be on the cards, but expect it to be introduced post launch.
Based on the pricing of the Maruti Fronx, we predict that the ex-showroom price of the Toyota Taisor will be between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom). Different variants may have a little higher price tag than the Maruti Fronx. Since Toyota isn't currently a competitor in the sub-4 metre SUV market, competitors apart from the Maruti Suzuki Fronx in this crossover's niche include the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, and the upcoming Mahindra XUV300.
